Balkan Dialogue

The Balkan Dialogue is an annual program of the Gorchakov Fund, which has established itself as a platform for comprehensive discussions, strengthening cultural and historical ties between representatives of the Russian and Balkan youth and enhancement of cooperation prospects.

The goal of the program is to establish a dialogue between experts and young professionals in international relations, economy, issues of security and representatives of academic communities of the Balkan Peninsula on the most important problems of the region. 

The program includes discussions of the geopolitical situation in the region, trade and economic activities of the Balkan countries, the role of media in developing a public opinion and political culture in the Balkans, modern challenges for stability and security of the region, prospects of development of relations between the Balkan countries and Russia on the background of the European integration and others. The participants of the project will be able to expand their knowledge of the discussion topics and meet colleagues and like-minded people.

Who can participate?
  • young professionals in foreign affairs, policy, economy and history of the Balkan region;
  • NGOs activists involved in international work and focusing on the problems of public diplomacy;
  • representatives of local and regional self-governing bodies and government agencies;
  • undergraduate and graduate students, professors of field-specific educational institutions;
  • journalists writing about problems of the Balkan region.
The list of participants is formed based on results of the applications review.

Requirements to participation:
  • age 20-35;
  • a proactive approach to life and a desire to develop professionally.
Terms of participation:

The Gorchakov Fund will cover accommodation costs, meals, cultural program and transfers included in the program. The Fund will provide visa support.

How to apply?

Once the call for applications is published, the applicants should complete an application form of the Gorchakov Fund and attach a short bio, links to several publications/videos/podcasts in the media, a photo (face photo, light solid background, vertical position), and recommendation and motivation letters.
