"There is no obvious coincidence between Russian and Chinese interests in Central Asia. It was believed earlier that Russia was one of the donors of security and stability in the region while China – a donor of economic development. Now, the situation is changing and this kind of clear separation is impossible. Hybrid formats are required and this means that in some areas the countries will have to compete with each other", said Dr. Artem Dankov, Director of the Department of Oriental Studies at the Faculty of History and Political Science of Confucius Institute at Tomsk State University and RIAC expert, during the "Expert's Opinion" show today.
