"Expert's Opinion": Pavel Timofeyev about the crisis in French-U.S.-UK relations

The U.S.-UK-Australia submarine deal resulted in termination of a multibillion agreement with Paris. French Foreign Minister Jean-Ives Le Drian called it a "stab in the back", and for the first time since 1778 France withdrew its ambassador to Washington.

Does this crisis mean an end to ambitions of Emmanuel Macron? Does all that is happening present a new chapter in the long-lasting rivalry between Paris and London? Why the Swiss have also offended the French?

The discussion will focus on how France has become a main victim of the U.S.-UK-Australia partnership. Pavel Timofeyev, Head of the Section for Regional Issues and Conflicts of the Department for European Political Studies at Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations RAS, will become a guest of the "Expert's Opinion" show this week.

The event will be available to watch live online on Friday, September 30 at 6:00 pm (Moscow Standard Time) on the Facebook page of the Gorchakov Fund.

A recording of the show will be published on the YouTube channel of the Fund.
