"Expert's Opinion": Alexey Kurpiyanov about the new tripartite alliance

On September 15, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom notified the International Atomic Energy Agency about creating a new security partnership. The name of the agreement is an acronym consisting of the first letters of English names of the member countries – AUUKUS.

Who are Washington, London and Canberra planning to contain in the Pacific? How will China respond to the initiative of the Anglo-Saxon hawks? Does creation of the alliance represent geopolitical humiliation of European allies by the U.S.?

The discussion topic is the U.S.-UK-Australia partnership: new challenges and a global response. Dr. Alexey Kupriyanov, Head of the Group on South Asia and Indian Ocean at the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies at Primakov IMEMO RAS, will become a guest of the Expert's Opinion show this week.

The event will be available to watch live online on Friday, September 24 (Moscow Standard Time) on the Facebook page of the Gorchakov Fund.

A recording of the show will be published on the YouTube channel of the Fund.
