On August 27, international concert "Spirit of Water" will take pace in New York. The project was inspired by indigenous traditions and ecological challenges facing five major water reservoirs in Eurasia and North America: the Hudson, the Drina, Lake Baikal, Lake Ruskeala, and the Aral Sea. Five young composers from different regions of Eurasia and the US were working together at the symphony to increase awareness about consequences of climate change affecting the water reservoirs in Eurasia.
An idea of the event belongs to Robert Willard
, President of the World Aral Regional Charity Foundation and a winner of the grant contest of the Gorchakov Fund for foreign individuals organized on the sidelines of International Youth Form "Eurasia Global" in 2020.
"Our project uses "ecological" art to increase interest in the unique water reservoirs of Eurasia among the US and Russian public", told the organizers of the project.
The symphony will be played over the Hudson on Friday, August 27 at 6:45 pm EST at Pier 45 at Hudson River Park. The concert will be broadcast online. Additional information is available here
