Lecture by Alexey Fenenko on alternative Eurasianism at the Gorchakov Fund

The Gorchakov Funs invites you to attend online lecture by Associate Professor at the Department of International Security of the Faculty of World Politics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, member of the Gorchakov Club Dr. Alexey Fenenko "Alternative Eurasianism as a Challenge for Russia?"

The ideology of "Eurasionism" is considered today an inseparable part of the Russian political culture. However, this being said, we forget that alternative Eurasian ideologies have been developed over the course of centuries by such countries as Great Britain, Germany and then the US. Such "alternative Eurasianism" can create a serious challenge for Russia, which we very often try to disregard. Ideological discussions can provide foundation for arrival of new political combinations in South and Central Asia.

Who was the first in the world to come up with the idea of "Eurasianism"? Why undervaluing development of alternative concepts in the Eurasian space by global actors  will became a challenge for Moscow? it is possible to combine Russian and foreign projects or Kipling was right when he said that "there is neither East nor West, <…> when two strong men stand face to face, tho' they come from the ends of the earth".
