Call for applications to participate in the youth session of the Primakov Readings-2021

International forum “The Primakov Readings” – a discussion platform focusing on problems of world economy, politics and security with the participation of top representatives from Russian and foreign thinks tanks – will take place in a hybrid format at the International Trade Center in Moscow on June 8-9.

The event will be organized by Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations RAS (IMEMO RAS) and the Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation. The topic of the Primakov Readings-2021 is “Modern Challenges of the World Order”.

At the forum, the Primakov Center in partnership with IMEMO RAS Council of Young Scholars and Post-Graduates will host the 4th youth session in the form of a roundtable – “Global Problems of the Post-COVID World Order: New Challenges and Leaders”.

Post-graduates and employees of higher educational institutions and think tanks, non-governmental and non-profit organizations, independent experts under 35 years of age (inclusive) specializing in world economy, political science, international relations, international law, sociology and demography, modern and contemporary history are invited to participate in the contest.

Based on results of the contest, 15 young scholars will be selected, who will also attend international forum “The Primakov Readings” on June 8-9 and will receive an opportunity to meet top experts, former and current politicians and representatives of the business world.

Dates of the event: June 6-7, 2021

Venue: Moscow, Primakov Center

The organizers will cover travel, accommodation and meals for the winners of the contest.

How to apply?

In order to participate in the contest, the applicants should complete an application form and attach the following documents:

  • an essay on the topic of the roundtable (12000-15000 characters with spaces in .docx format, shrift – Times New Roman, shrift size – 14, line spacing – 1.0);

  • a recommendation letter from the head of the university/institution/organization (in .pdf, .jpg, .png format);

  • additional document describing the applicant as an expert qualified for participation in the project (scientific articles, resume, etc.);

  • a face photo (to be used in the event brochure with information about the participants).

While writing an essay, the organizers recommend the participants to focus on such urgent global problems as climate change, social and economic inequality, maintaining strategic stability, accelerated digitization of public life, and dynamics of development of international conflicts. Special attention should be paid to the increasing role of Asia in the developing architecture of international relations after the COVID-19 pandemic and the place of western countries and the future of Russia in the system of relations undergoing a transformation.
