The Gorchakov Fund opens the Arctic Dialogue–2021 on the Yamal

On October 11-15, research and educational program "The Arctic Dialogue – 2021" will take place in the capital of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District – Salekhard. The project is implemented by the Gorchakov Fund in partnership with the Government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the Project Office for Arctic Development (PORA) and with the media support of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC).

The Arctic Dialogue will provide a platform for discussions of the most important geopolitical issues in the region. Participants and experts will perform a thorough analysis of problems in the Arctic in the areas of environmental protection, infrastructure, global security, and international law. In addition to that, they will discuss prospects of cultural and economic cooperation of northern countries, opportunities of Russia's chairmanship in the Arctic Council and the "Arctic" strategy of Russia and its constituent entities located in the Arctic zone.

Experts of the event will be represented by top specialists on the Arctic region – political scientists, historians, journalists, economists, scientists, international relations professionals, public figures, representatives of business and field-specific government agencies and corporations.

Participation in the project will allow young experts in international relations, political science, journalism, economics, security issues from countries of the Arctic region to broaden their knowledge about the discussion topics and to meet colleagues and like-minded people.

The event will be held in a mixed format: participants and experts from certain countries will join the discussions on Zoom.

Panel discussions of the Arctic Dialogue will be available to watch live online and as a recording on the YouTube channel of the Gorchakov Fund.

The participants will spend much time during the Arctic Dialogue–2021 working in teams on presentations of potential scenarios related to development of international cooperation in the Arctic region. Authors of the best projects will receive an opportunity to continue working on their topics after the event and to publish a multi-author article-essay on the RIAC website.
