The Gorchakov Fund hosted a press conference commemorating Soviet athlete and scientist Leonid Gissen. Leonid Gissen was a Soviet and Russian scientist-psychologist, the first Soviet athlete-rower, who won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Helsinki as crew member of the Soviet boat in the eights event and, thus, laid foundation for accomplishments of Soviet athletes on the world arena. The collection of awards received by Leonid Gissen includes three gold medals from European championships, five – from USSR championships, and the Henley Royal Regatta prize. On June 28, 2021 the outstanding athlete would have turned 90.
