A forum on cultural diplomacy was held in the Kaluga region with support of the Gorchakov Fund

In April 11-15, 2016, the International Forum of Creative Youth “Cultural Diplomacy in the 21st century: New Challenges, New Decisions” took place in the Kaluga region at the ethnographic park-museum ETNOMIR with support of the Gorchakov Fund.


During the Forum, ambassadors, travelers, figures of culture and art from different countries, who had also become curators of nine international teams, shared their experience and knowledge. Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Executive Director of the Institute of Economic Strategies and member of the Gorchakov Fund’s Club of Friends Alexander Ageyev was a main moderator of the project. He also held several master classes in project groups.


Besides that, diplomat and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Russia (2002-2005) Hans Friedrich von Ploetz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Germany (1997-2004) Sergey Krylov, well-known traveler and writer Vadim Burlak, German visual artist Dietlind Bertelsmann, Assistant to the Head of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Jonas Eberlein, representative of the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade Hans-Jurgen Wittmann and representative of the Management Board of the Society IKaRuS – International Communication and the Russian Language Thomas Hentschel participated in the forum.

After completion of the project, the teams presented proposals on cultural exchange, aid to refugees, popularization of ecological technologies and other burning issues. Team “Green Hub”, a creator of a portal dedicated to intercultural exchange and education, became a winner of the contest.
