There is Gorchakov Street now in Kaliningrad. A related decision of the toponymic commission was approved by the City Council of Kaliningrad.

The street in Selma, which is a new district of the most western regional center of our country (the Leningrad City District), was named after the chancellor, an outstanding Russian diplomat and politician of the 19th century.

According to information provided to a press service of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund by Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Local Governance and Social Policy of the City Council and member of the Gorchakov Fund’s Club of Friends Alexey Sagaydak, the proposal to eternalize the name of the chancellor had been made by schoolchildren of the 40th gymnasium.

The parliamentarian reminded that on July 14, 2014 participants of the III International Assembly of Sister-Cities and Cities-Partners of Kaliningrad, held with the support of the Gorchakov Fund, had approved a memorandum, initiating a discussion by the city authorities of Kaliningrad regarding the issue of naming one of the new streets after Gorchakov .

“Thus, ideals of nobility, honor and dignity, considered by Alexander Gorchakov, as a person and a professional diplomat, as foundation for the future of both individuals and whole nations, have been secured”, explained Alexey Sagaydak.
