A potential barrier to academic diplomacy will be identified in Akademgorodok of Novosibirsk

On September 21-23, the first round of strategic session “A Potential Barrier to Public Diplomacy”, organized by the Gorchakov Fund, the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Graduate Association “The Union of Novosibirsk State University” is taking place at the Exhibition Center of the Siberian branch of RAS.

Plenary and group formats of the strategic session cover a broad spectrum of issues related to scienсe diplomacy, science communications, development of concepts associated with transformation and advancement of academic organizations, such as Akademgorodok 2.0, which is being created in Novosibirsk. The event is held in a combined in-person and online format in compliance with hygienic measures and social distancing requirements.

The speakers and experts of the session include Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of the RAS Siberian branch Valentin Parmon, Deputy President and RAS Corresponding Member Vladimir Ivanov, Siberian members of RAS archeologist Anatoly Derevyanko and geologist Nikolay Pokhilenko, Minister of Science and Innovation Policy of the Novosibirsk region Alexey Vasilyev, Director of the Union for Development of Science Cities in Russia Mikhail Kuznetsov, Professor Vladimir Shiltsev (USA) and Pyotr Podalko (Japan), methodologists, science journalists and public activities of Akademgorodok in Novosibirsk 

“I hope that you will find the missing links in the communication chain and get answers to important questions – Irina Manuylova, Vice Governor of the Novosibirsk region, addressed the participants of the session. – We are looking forward to receiving your recommendations, proposals, project and program ideas, which will not only support development of Novosibirsk as a “science capital” of Russia, but all Russian science”.

The second round of the strategic session will take place on December 5-6 in Moscow, where results of the event in Akademgorodok and plans for the future will be presented.
