An international forum on the problems of national security was held with the support of the Gorchakov Fund
The 3rd International Forum and Workshop “Problems of National Security under Conditions of Globalization and Integration Processes (Interdisciplinary Aspects)” took place at Russian-Armenian University. The even had been organized with the financial support of the State Committee for Science of the Republic of Armenia and with the support of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
Besides the traditional conference on the problems of security and identity, a youth session on national security and several roundtables were held.
The 3rd International Forum and Workshop “Problems of National Security under Conditions of Globalization and Integration Processes” had brought together at RAU top experts in the field of political science, law, international relations and economics. Representatives of the Center for Strategic Studies Ashhar, the Institute of Europe RAS, the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Center for Euro-Atlantic Security, the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations as well as faculty members, post-graduates and Master’s degree students of RAU, Yerevan State University, Russian State University for the Humanities, RANEPA, Moscow State University and Pyatigorsk State University attended the event.
The guests and the participants were welcomed by Vice Rector for Research of Russian-Armenian University Parkev Avetisyan. He stressed that preservation of national identity under current geopolitical conditions had a conceptually important meaning for any country.
Associate Professor of the Department of Regional Studies and Foreign Policy of RAU, expert of the Russian Council for Foreign Affairs and the Gorchakov Fund Sergey Markedonov focused his presentation on the issues of the Karabakh conflict within the framework of security of South Caucasus: “The algorithm of the Karabakh conflict looks like a pendulum, negotiations alternate with escalation”. In fact, there is no essential negotiation process as every time the negotiation process itself is saved, in particular, what already is in place”.
Issues of global and regional security, theoretical aspects of national security studies, legal aspects of providing national security, military-political, socioeconomic and humanitarian aspects, issues of regional security under conditions of global transformation, issues of strategic culture and public diplomacy were discussed and current problems of information security were analyzed on the sidelines of the forum.
