Attention! International Contest of Academic Research Papers by Students on the Issues of the Balkan Region

The Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation invites Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students to participate in the International Contest of Academic Research Papers by Students on the Issues of the Balkan Region.

Topic of the contest – “Russia and the Balkans: How a Personality Makes History (on the Example of Savva Vladislavic-Raguzinsky).

The goal of the contest is to draw attention to the Balkan problems among the youth.

Participants of the contest: citizens of the Russian Federation and other countries under 25.

The applicants will choose a topic of research on their own in order to participate in the contest. The paper should comply with academic requirements, demonstrate a high level of analytical thinking, knowledge of systematic approaches and unique ideas.

Formal requirements: language of the paper – Russian or English, size – 5-8 pages, shrift type – Times New Roman, shrift size – 14, line spacing – single without space between paragraphs. Materials provided alongside the applications should be originals. Utilization of materials fr om other researchers without mentioning the source by the participants is not allowed. Papers received after the application deadline and not filed in accordance with the formal requirements will not be considered.

Application deadline – by November 30, 2017.

Contest results – by December 28, 2017.

The papers, submitted to the contest, will be evaluated by an expert panel, which will select 10 winners based on results of a closed ballot. Each winner will receive a certificate as well as coverage of their travel and accommodation expenses for the purpose of attending the conference in Moscow and participating in the series of consultative expert seminars on the topics of the Balkan region.

All the selected participants of the contest will receive an opportunity to speak at the conference, present results of their research and discuss them with the experts.

Based on results of the conference, 2 finalists will be selected. They will received prizes and an opportunity to attend the conference dedicated to the 180th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Serbia (on February 23, 2018 in Belgrade), where Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov will address the participants.
