“Balkan Dialogue – 2015” will open in Serbia on June 18

On June 18-20, 2015 the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund will hold the annual International Conference “Balkan Dialogue – 2015” in the Serbian cities of Novi Sad and Belgrade.

 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia Alexander Chepurin will address participants with a welcome speech.

 

The research-to-practice conference “Balkan Dialogue – 2015” is held annually in the framework of a discussion platform. Its goal is to establish a public dialogue of experts and young professionals in the field of foreign affairs, economy, issues of security of international journalism, and representatives of the academic community of the Balkan Peninsula.

 

Representatives from 15 countries will take part in the work of the conference. The “Dialogue” will gather together over 80 participants from the countries of the Baltic region. Topics of the discussion will include regional security, energy policy of global players in the Balkans, historical foundation of modern geopolitics of the region, a dialogue as a means of resolving historical challenges and overcoming new threats.

 

Special attention will be given to key areas of international cooperation in the field of humanitarian cooperation, economy, politics and culture within the framework of plenary sessions, open lectures for young participants, roundtables, thematic sections and meetings.

The “Balkan Dialogue” is an annual project of the Gorchakov Fund, which is implemented in the framework of a research-to-practice international conference. The first meeting (in 2013) was held in Bulgaria on the platform of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. “Balkan Dialogue – 2014” gathered together in Belgrade representatives of academic community, public and political figures, political scientists and experts in foreign affairs from majority of the countries of the Balkan region. A visit of Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin took place on the sidelines of the conference.
