Call for applications to participate in the Primakov International Competition of Student Scientific and Analytical Papers on the Middle East
The Center of Oriental Studies, International Relations and Public Diplomacy, the Primakov Center for International Cooperation along with the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in collaboration with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs invite Bachelor’s and Master’s students to participate in the 5th Primakov International Competition of Student Scientific and Analytical Papers on the Middle East.
The competition aims to bring together the most talented and promising researchers from all over the world specializing in the Middle East region and encourage them to take part in the international conference and meetings with experts in Oriental Studies.
Requirements to the candidates: Bachelor’s and Master’s students, ages 18-30, who do not hold a PhD degree.
The participants are free to choose their own topic of interest.

The papers presented for the competition will be reviewed by an expert panel, which will select 15 winners based on results of voting by secret ballot. Each of them will receive a special certificate and an opportunity to attend a conference and a series of consultative and expert workshops on the Middle East. Expenses associated with participation in the conference and the workshops, including travel and accommodation costs, will be covered. Out of the 15 winners 5 prize winners will be selected. They will be awarded with certificates for cash awards. The 1st prize winner will receive a memorable gift and a certificate for 30 000 rubles; the 2nd prize winner – a certificate for 20 000 rubles; the 3rd prize winner – a certificate for 10 000 rubles; the 4th and the 5th prize winners – certificates for 5 000 rubles each.
All participants will have an opportunity to present results of their research at the conference and discuss them with the experts.
Attention! Winners of previous years (1-4th prize winners) cannot participate in the competition, but are invited to present at the conference as guests of honor.
Deadline for paper submission is February 5, 2021. The results will be announced by February 28, 2021.
In case the submitted paper does not comply with the general guidelines, the Organizing Committee has a right to reject the application. If the application is approved, the participants will be notified about the status of the submission.
Attending the conference without participation in the competition is also possible.
In order to participate in the competition and/or the conference, the applicants should send a message to email@example.com with the following subject line “Application for Competition: First and Last Name”, attach the article in Word format and the application form (the files should be named accordingly “Surname. Article”, “Surname. Application Form”).
In order to attend the conference as an individual or a mass media representative, please submit an application form, including your full name, place of work and nationality, to the email address mentioned above by March 1, 2021.
The series of the consultative workshops and the conference will take place on April 23-24, 2021.
Following the results of the competition and the conference, a collection of papers will be published.
