From Great Britain to Afghanistan: The Gorchakov Fund has selected the best projects at the forum “Eurasia Global”

The International Forum “Eurasia Global” has ended in Orenburg together with a grant contest of the Gorchakov Fund, which was coordinated by the National Youth Council of Russia.

Over 100 applications had been submitted for a correspondence stage of the contest and 33 projects from 24 countries were selected to compete in an in-person stage, which was held on the platform of the Eurasia Global Forum. The expert committee selected 9 winners.

Grants in the amount of 200 000 rubles were awarded to:

  • Danara Saranova, author of the idea of the International Forum of Leaders and Youth Organizations “Cooperation without Borders” (Kazakhstan)

  • Mariam Ovsepyan and project “Russia-Armenia, Youth Initiatives within the EEU” (Armenia)

  • Project of All-India Essay Contest “On Russia In No Rush” by Irina Malysheva (India)

  • Branka Yelicic and project “Zadar – Nizhniy Novgorod, Friendship of the Cities” (Croatia)

  • Project by Erkinay Taalaybekova “International Youth Forum of Volunteers” (Kyrgyzstan)

Three projects will receive grants in the amount of 300 000 rubles:

  • Marco Antic, conference “Serbia: A Point of Connection between the EU and Russia” (Serbia)

  • Sergey Buravlev and the idea of the roundtable “Russian-British Relations Today and Tomorrow” (Great Britain)

  • Yevgeny Lapenko, project of the Forum of Leaders of Student Union Organizations and Student Administration Entities “Factor of People’s Diplomacy” (Donetsk)

The largest grant in the amount of 500 000 rubles as awarded by the expert committee to the project of Akhmad Khaibar Akifi “Youth of Russia and Afghanistan: Together about Important Things”. The conference will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian-Afghan relations and will include a meeting of young activists from Russia and Afghanistan with the goal of establishing strong friendly relations and developing a positive image of both countries in each other’s eyes. As part of the project, cultural, educational and consultative centers with the participation of active youth will be created and regular meetings on the territories of both countries aimed at developing sustainable educational and business contacts will be organized.

We would like to remind that the Gorchakov Fund organized a series of educational training sessions and panel discussions on the sidelines of the Eurasia Global Forum. Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Roman Grishenin, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Petushkov and Director of the Center for International and Regional Policy Boris Kuznetsov spoke to the participants about the role of public diplomacy in modern political processes. Director of the Institute of Socially-Creative Asset Development Daria Zinkovskaya taught a master class on public speaking “Steps to Successful Public Speaking” for the participants of the forum.
