On March 14, a lecture by Dmitry Lortkipanidze – a Georgian politician, Executive Director of the Primakov Russian-Georgia Public Center – will take place at the Gorchakov Fund. The topic of the lecture is “Georgia Is Facing a Choice”.
Over the past several decades, political economic and social development in Georgia has been significantly changing. For a number of reasons, none of the governments were able to resolve vital problems and create a stable environment, both inside the country and in the foreign policy.
Russia and Georgia are natural partners with interconnected interests, and the issue of relations between the two countries stays important. Lately, we can speak about a new round of development in the bilateral relations. During the last several years, Georgia has established itself as one of the top popular countries to visit by Russian tourists. This year, the flow of tourists from Russia to Georgian may hit a new record of 1.5 mln people.
The trade relations are also developing. Today, Russia is a major sales market for Georgian goods and, above all, for the wine. Export from Georgia to Russia has grown by 13 times over the past ten years.
Dmitry Lortkipanidze, a member of the Parliament of Georgia of the 7th convocation, Secretary of Fraction “Unity for Justice”, Deputy Director of the Committee for Human Rights and Civic Integration, Executive Director of the Primakov Georgian-Russian Public Center, will tell us about choices and challenges that Georgia is facing and if Russia and Georgia have a chance to establish a constructive dialogue.
