19 November 2017

On November 18-19, activities within the framework of research and educational program of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the Primakov Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation “Dialogue in the Name of the Future” continue.

Director for Research of the Center for Situation Analysis at IMEMO RAS Vladimir Baranovsky, Director of the United Nations Information Center Vladimir Kuznetsov and Regional Health Coordinator at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Davron Mukhamadiev became participants of the discussion “Power, Ethics and Law in Global Politics”.

The discussion covered a model of behavior in international relations, their ethical dimension and related aspects.

Davron Mukhamadiev spoke about the problem of migration, which concerns all of Europe. He stressed importance of the humanitarian imperative in the activities of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies where priority is given to an individual. “We are in politics, but we are not letting politics capture us”, said the speaker.

The UN uses the same principles, according to Vladimir Kuznetsov. “Soft power” is in the heart of activities of this organization.

Discussion “Shortage of Security as a New Reality of the Modern World” was held by Executive Director of PIR Center Albert Zulkharneev, expert of the Valdai Club Maxim Suchkov and senior research fellow at the Center for the Studies of the Northeast Asia Strategic Issues and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization of Institute of Far Eastern Studies RAS Dr. Vasily Kashin. The participants of the Dialogue discussed a number of major issues of the foreign policy, including different geopolitical controversies, the migration situation in Europe and prospects of the Asia-Pacific Region and Russian-US relations.

The agenda of the third day of the Dialogue ended with the discussions “Modern Trends of Greater Eurasia” (with the participation of Executive Director of the Kazakhstan Council for Foreign Affairs Iskander Akylbaev and senior research fellow of the Center for East Asian and SCO Studies of MGIMO (U) under MFA Russia Igor Denisov) and “New Technologies in Economy” (it was moderated by founder of Telegram Channel @blockchainrf Anya Aslanyan and Head of the Department “Finances, Payments and Electronic Commerce” of Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Evgeny Plaksenov).

Producer of Artem Kobzev taught a master class during the next day of the agenda. After that, the attendees of the Dialogue participated in the discussion “Cyberspace within the Framework of International Security and Strategic Stability”. It was moderated by consultant of PIR Center Oleg Demidov and Advisor to the President of Rosneft, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Analysis of International Problems of MGIMO Andrey Bezrukov.

The future of Russia and cyberspace is one of the most important topics at any international conference. What is the “New big war”? What will a new technology cycle be like? What are new realities of the digital world and strategic challenges for Russia? The speakers tried answering these and other questions when speaking about the new geopolitics of Russia and prospects for stabilization of the Greater Eurasia space.

The event is organized with the support of the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for development of the civil society provided by the Foundation of Presidential Grants.
