Jack Matlock about 210 years of Russian-U.S. relations: “The truth is that we have never been openly at war with each other”
Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.S.S.R. (1987-1991) Jack Matlock told RT what he was expecting from Russian-U.S. relations in the future.
When speaking on the sidelines of the international conference “Russian-U.S. Relations: 210 Years”, organized by the Institute of the U.S. and Canadian Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Kennan Institute and supported by the Gorchakov Fund and Carnegie Corporation of New York, Matlock mentioned that Russia and the United States, though being opponents, had never been openly at war with each other. He believes that at present nobody wishes for a military conflict.
