Lecture by Sara Poli: “The European Union: Past, Present and Future of a Story of Success"
The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund invites you to attend a lecture by Head of the Department of European Law at the Faculty of Political Science of Pisa University, Professor Sara Poli, which will take place in Moscow at the Gorchakov Fund on May 24 at 11:00 am.
The presentation will examine the reasons why the European integration process needs to be preserved. The European Union has improved lives of 512 million people thanks to establishing an internal market. The member states have been living in peace with each other for a long time and have been taking all the benefits, provided by the EU, for granted. However, certain countries are trying to leave the EU, but the exit is costly and leads nowhere, as Brexit shows. At the same time, the EU is facing a number of challenges, which could be faced with "larger Europe" rather than with "smaller Europe".
Following the lecture, the audience will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion with the speaker.
