Parliamentarians from Russia and Germany will discuss the role of Moscow, Berlin and Brussels in the architecture of the new world order in Moscow
On November 2, a meeting between Russian and German parliamentarians will be held in Moscow. A discussion with participation of representatives of legal bodies of the two countries was organized by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the German-Russian Forum.
Well-known economists, figures of cultures and businessmen from Russia and Germany will attend the event. They will discuss the role of their countries and the European Union in the architecture of the new world order.
The conference will be opened by Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, member of the Management Board of the Gorchakov Fund Konstantin Kosachev. Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Leonid Drachevsky, former Minister-President of Brandenburg, Chairman of the Management Board of the German-Russian Forum Matthias Platzeck and Minister‐President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Chairman of the German-Russian Friendship Group in the Bundestag Manuela Schwesig will welcome the participants.
After that, discussion session “Relaunching the Strategic Partnership for Modernization? Priorities and Opportunities for a Common Dialogue” will be held in the upper chamber of the Russian Federal Assembly. Member of the Bundestag, Coordinator of Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and Countries of the Eastern Partnership (of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany) Dirk Vise will present a report.
During the second half of the day the participants will talk about how Germn investments work in Russian and Russian investments in Germany despite the sanctions.
As it was reported earlier, on November 3 the 3rd Youth Forum of the Potsdam Meetings will be organized at the Gorchakov Fund. Members of the Bundestag – participants of the meeting between parliamentarians from Russia and Germany – are also planning to attend the event
We would like to remind that representatives of legislative branch of the two countries for the first time communicated within the framework of the Potsdam Meetings in November of 2016. 30 high-level officials from Russia and Germany talked about word politics; discussed common views and differences in opinions of Russia and the West regarding elections in the U.S. and for the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Brexit, problems of terrorism, events in the Middle East and Ukraine.
