21 April 2015

International conference “Problems and Prospects for Cooperation between Russia and Countries of Central Europe”, organized by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, is taking place in Hungary on April 21.

Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian Parliament, Chairman of the Interparliamentary Union and President of the Tolstoy Association for Hungarian-Russian Cooperation Shandor Lezhak underlined that a sense of historical rhythm is inherent to the Gorchakov Fund as organization of such a conference is extremely timely. According to him, the fact that the forum is held by the Fund is exemplary because the name of the Chancellor is connected with a series of European conferences on peace.

Deputy Head of the State Secretariat of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chaba Shandor Balog stated that free movement of goods, service, people and ideas is beneficial to his country. Real cooperation between Hungary and Russia, the European Union and Russia needs to be achieved.

Director of the Hungarian Institute on Reforms Studies Dr. Zoltan Biro believes that it is necessary to take into account not only economic, military and political aspects of cooperation. He acknowledged that Hungary finds itself again on a forced orbit – NATO, the EU.
