Russian and foreign experts will discuss influence of the pandemic on European security

On June 25, online conference “Rethinking European Security in the Post-Coronavirus Period” will take place. The event was organized by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, the Haans Seidel Foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Delovoy Peterburg newspaper and the Center for International and Regional Policy.

European and Russian experts will discuss influence of the coronavirus pandemic on European security, evaluate changes in the geopolitical environment of Europe, make proposals about what is needed to provide sustainable stability and security on the continent.

The following guests will participate in the discussion:

  • Oleg Ivanov, Vice Rector of the Diplomatic Academy under MFA of Russia, Moscow;

  • Kristian Fischer, Director of Danish Institute for International Studies, Copenhagen;

  • Rainer Meyer zum Felde, Brigadier General (retired), Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Security Policy Kiel University, Germany;

  • Denis Melyantsov, Coordinator of Belarusian Foreign Policy Program, Council on International Relations “Minsk Dialogue”, Moscow;

  • Andrey Zagrosky, Professor of MGIMO University under MFA of Russia, Head of the Department for Disarmament and Conflict Resolution at the Center for International Security of IMEMO RAS, Moscow;

  • Andris Spruds, Director of the Latvian Institute of International Relations, Riga;

  • Katri Pyonnoniemi, Head of Security Policy Program, University of Helsinki, Finland.

The conference will start at 4:00 pm Moscow time.
