22 July 2016

On July 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov is participating in the work of all-Russia youth educational forum “Territory of Senses on the Klyazma River”. He will give a lecture to future professionals in the field of foreign affairs.

When answering a question asked by Chairman of the Youth Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly EurAsEC Ivan Yesipov about importance of wok with NGOs and providing support to youth public organizations, Sergey Lavrov said: “Regarding youth organizations… You know that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not a grant-issuing organization. We are founders of several foundations – according to decisions of the president and the government, which, in their turn, subsidize non-governmental institutions. Above all, I am speaking about the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. They annually receive certain modest amounts of public money. And they have a right to raise funds from the sponsors. And they do that. We have a large number of Russian companies that provide such support to non-governmental organizations.

As for youth structures of integration mechanisms, decisions should be made within the framework of those many-sided unions and organizations. I will only be for it! In regards to financing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not have such capabilities. However, you can file an application through the Gorchakov Fund, and they have certain criteria. The main thing is that they issue grants to support Russian non-governmental organizations, which hold activities in the international area”.

“If you comply with their requirement, then apply there“, added the minister.

The organizer of “Territory of Senses” is Rosmolodezh. The Gorchakov Fund provides support in development of the international area of activities of the federal agency.
