Sergey Ryabkov: Russia and BRICS do not accept the practice of unilateral sanctions

On August 28, International Research and Educational Program “BRICS School” continues in Moscow. It was organized by the Russian National Committee on BRICS Research together with the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.

The attendees were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov. According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers this conference as a serious contribution into development of knowledge about BRICS and understanding of processes occurring within the association.

“We can feel emotional boost from our meetings, our communication”, said the diplomat.

He specifically mentioned activities of the Gorchakov Fund and NCR BRICS, their participation in research conducted within the association.

When speaking about results of the BRICS summit, which had taken place earlier in Johannesburg (South Africa), Sergey Raybkov emphasized the common position of the five member countries. BRICS will not accept double standards, military interventions, unilateral economic enforcement measures, protectionism and unfair competition, said the speaker.

According to him, at the moment the five countries were working at signing an agreement in the field of international cybersecurity.

Head of the Committee for Education and Science of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Vyacheslav Nikonov also addressed the participants. He stressed that ties between the member countries of the association were time-proven and expressed confidence that contacts would be expanding, including on the level of civil societies.
