The Caucasus Dialogue. Day 1. Conflicts in the region and ways to resolve them

28 July 2016

On July 27, an official opening ceremony of the Caucasus Dialogue - 2016 was held at the Youth Palace in Grozny. Minister of Youth Affairs of the Chechen Republic Murat Tagiyev and Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Roman Grishenin welcomed participants. The youth forum brought together representatives of the Caucasus region.

The agenda of the forum began with a speech of Murat Tagiyev, which was dedicated to implementation of the national youth policy in North Caucasus and experience of the Chechen Republic in that area. The foundation of such policy is in spiritual and moral upbringing and active work with the youth and, of course, in conservation of the traditions, which allows avoiding complete unification. Also, issues of employment and preserving uniqueness were discussed. A thought was expressed that characteristic features of certain nations and ethnic groups should become a reason for pride for the state as a whole.

The agenda of the Caucasus Dialogue was continued by a meeting of the participants with Minister of National Policy, External Affairs, Press and Information of the Chechen Republic Dzhambulat Umarov. He started his speech with reminding about outstanding Russian politician Alexander Gorchakov and stressed that foundation for concentration is unification based on a universal idea. In particular, it can serve as a certain counter-ideologeme of what ISIS is proposing.
