22 October 2019

The Dialogue in the Name of the Future – a research and educational program of the Gorchakov Fund – has opened in Moscow. This year the program is implemented in collaboration with the Primakov Center and Primakov IMEMO RAS.

An opening ceremony of the event took place in the main building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Attendees of the conference were welcomed by Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Leonid Drachevsky. He told how the idea of the program had been born and reminded that Yevgeny Primakov had met with the participants of the Dialogue. This year the conference is dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of the diplomat.

Over 60 young foreign affairs experts, political scientists and researchers from 27 countries, including the CIS and non-CIS countries, are participating in the Dialogue – 2019.

During the first day of the conference Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Pankin met with the attendees. He wished them excellent results on behalf of Head of the Foreign Service Sergey Lavrov. The diplomat emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia would always be supporting diplomacy through non-governmental organizations. According to him, such building of relations on the level of the civil society could be compared to paving the way for professional diplomats. A presentation of the book “Politician, diplomat, scientist Yevgeny Primakov” was organized during the meeting and the participants received pilot copies of the book. Alexander Pankin mentioned many-sidedness of the diplomatic heritage of Yevgeny Primakov. He was the one, who defined the concept of multipolarity. And the time has proved correctness of his views in regards to integration processes, which are gaining momentum in the post-Soviet space.

The young experts also visited the Center of History of Russian Diplomatic Service under the MFA of Russia.

The program “Dialogue in the Name of the Future” has been implemented since 2011 and includes a multi-day series of lectures, roundtables and meetings between young experts and top representatives of political, scientific and cultural communities and governmental agencies, including the MFA of Russia.
