The German-Russian Forum and the Gorchakov Fund will host the Potsdam Meetings online

22 May 2020

On May 25, the German-Russian Forum and the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund will host the 23rd Potsdam Meetings. The conference organized under the patronage of ministers of foreign affairs of Russia and Germany Sergey Lavrov and Heiko Maas will take place online via RSI.

This year the topic of the traditional Potsdam Meetings is “Germany-Russia-EU: The Pandemic and Its Influence on the Foreign and Security Policies”.

European chances and risks: German and Russian perspectives. Will the pandemic truly change everything? Can united Europe become a place of changes? How stability, good neighbour relations and economic prosperity acquire existentialistic meaning for European capacity?

Today, the Potsdam Meetings provide an opportunity to begin re-evaluating the situation. Politicians, experts and business representatives advocate cooperation and search for joint decisions.

The online conference will open at 12:00 pm Moscow time on May 25. The patrons of the conference – the foreign ministers of both countries – will address the audience with welcome speeches.

A live broadcast of the conference will be available here

A roundtable for Russian and German media will open at 4:00 pm Moscow time. In order to get access to the roundtable with an opportunity to ask speakers a question, please register by calling (967) 285 2133.
