The German-Russian Forum of Sister-Cities “Young Regional Ambassadors” opened in Tyumen

The Forum was organized by the Center for Academic Mobility in collaboration with the Graduate Association of the German-Russian Youth Parliament DRUJG e.V. in partnership with the Alexander Gorchakov Pubic Diplomacy Fund.

An official opening ceremony took place on May 13 in the Governor’s Hall of Tyumen State University. Participants of the forum were welcomed by honorary guests: Gennady Chebotarev – Chairman of the Civic Chamber of the Tyumen region, Albert Sarbalayev – expert of the Government of the Russian Federation for Patronage Issues in the Social Sphere, Nadezhda Dubiv – Head of the Steller German-Russian Center of Cooperation and Natalia Rakitina – Head of Administration for Foreign Affairs and Control at the Department of Investment Policy and Entrepreneurship Support of the Tyumen region.

During this week the participants of the forum will meet with experts from government agencies and NGOs, participate in discussions and projects. In addition to that, 30 students and young experts from Russia and Germany will visit KCA Deutag, the School of Advanced Research of Tyumen State University and will see an audiovisual show presented by Youth Theater “Cosmos”.

The forum was sponsored by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Tyumen region.

A major characteristic of the Forum is project work, which is aimed at providing support to the international youth dialogue, which will result in the analysis of current problems of German-Russian relations by the youth of both countries.

Results of the Forum will be summarized in a communique drafted by the participants, which will be forwarded for consideration to related agencies involved in the issues of cooperation between Germany and Russia.
