The Gorchakov Fund expresses condolences in regards to the recent passing of Igor Savolsky
On July 31, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Igor Savolsky passed away at the age of 78.
During the period of 43 years Mr. Savolsky was serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. He was heading diplomatic missions of our country in the Czech Republic and Hungary. He served as Ambassador-at-Large, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia for CIS Affairs, headed the Negotiation Task Force for the Sea of Azov, the Kerch Strait and Demarcation of the Marine Space on the Black Sea.
Igor Savolsky was one of the biggest Russian experts on Hungary, he knew and loved that country and made an invaluable contribution into strengthening of the Russian-Hungarian relations.
