The Gorchakov Fund is opening the II Caspian School in Astrakhan

On September 14, the second Caspian Youth School, one of the scientific and educational programs of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, is opening in Astrakhan.


Young experts from the countries of the Caspian Sea Region – Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan – will meet to discuss burning issues of security, the energy industry and cooperation in the region. Experts of the School will include representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador-at-Large, Special Representative of the Russian President on delimitation and demarcation of borders between Russia and the CIS States, head of the Russian delegation at multilateral negotiations on the problems of the Caspian Sea Igor Bratchikov, analyst of the Russian Association on Cross-Border Cooperation of Kazakhstan Marat Shibutov, Executive Director of the Caspian Cooperation Institute Sergey Mikheyev, Azeri political scientist Ilgar Velizade, Deputy Director of the National Energy Security Fund Alexey Grivach and consultant of the International Cooperation Unit of the Integration Development Department at Eurasian Economic Commission Dmitriy Yezhov.


One the working modules will take place at the premises of the Scientific and Experimental Center “Bios” of Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Caspian Fisheries Research Institute” (CaspNIRKh). There, the attendees of the School will discuss issues of ecological security of the Caspian Sea with representative of CaspNIRKh on ecological problems of the Caspian basin, Vice President of the Astrakhan Division of the International Academy of Ecology and Environmental Sciences Damir Katunin.

The Caspian Youth School is a scientific and educational platform, wh ere young researchers of the region can obtain expert assessments of current events, exchange opinions with their colleagues from other countries and network.

The II Caspian Youth School will be completed on September 18.
