The Gorchakov Fund is participating in the conference commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism, which is taking place in Italy

On May 26, the Italian-Russian conference “1945-2015. 70th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism” is taking place in Rome. Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Leonid Drachevsky is participating in the work of the forum.


Famous Italian politician Georgio Napolitano, who had served as a president of the Italian Republic in 2006-2015, made a speech at the opening of the conference. He took part in the Italian resistance movement during World War II.


Georgio Napolitano mentioned that there was no alternative to a sustainable dialogue between Russia, the EU and the US. Europe cannot imagine further development without cooperation with Russia and understands how important its role is in the modern world, that is why the West needs to choose a new way keeping in mind interests of Russia, believes the ex-president of Italy.


The Italian-Russian conference “1945-2015. 70th Anniversary of the Victory over Fascism” was organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Italy and the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI).


According to RIA Novosti, the important role of Russia in contributing to the victory over fascism and its meaning in a modern international society and establishment of a bipolar world was acknowledged in the course of the discussion.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Italy Sergey Razov and President of SIOI, President of the Italian Association for the United Nations Franco Frattini, who had served as a minister of foreign affairs of Italy in 2008-2011, also spoke to the participants.
