The Gorchakov Fund sponsored participation of a Russian delegation in expert consultations in Edinburgh
On June 18, a series of meetings with Scottish experts took place in Edinburgh. The events were organized with the support of the Gorchakov Fund and Scottish group “Friends of Russia” – a public initiative, which includes politicians and public figures as its members. The main topic of the discussion was current state of Russian-British relations and prospects of their improvement in different areas (politics, economy and public diplomacy).
The Russian delegation was represented by Alexey Gromyko, Director of the Institute of Europe RAS; Elena Ananyeva, Head of the Center for British Studies at the Institute of Europe RAS and Mikhail Alexandrov, Senior Expert of the Center for Military and Political Studies of MGIMO (U) under MFA of Russia.
The British delegation included, among others, member of the Scottish Parliament from the Scottish National Party Alex Neil, former member of the UK Parliament Jim Sillars, Head of the Municipal County of Midlothian Peter Smale, Professor at University of Oxford Christopher Bellamy and Secretary of the “Friends of Russia” group Tom Walker.
The Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh provided support in organizing the events.
