The Gorchakov Fund took part in the meeting of Sergey Lavrov with representatives of Russian non-profit organizations
On June 1, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with representatives of Russian non-profit organizations. The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund participated in the event.
When addressing the attendees, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said:
“Dear colleagues, dear friends!
We are happy to welcome you at another meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with representatives of Russian non-profit organizations. It is an old tradition. A dialogue in such a format on this platform has proved itself as a very useful mechanism of communication between our ministry and representatives of the civil society.
During the year since our last meeting within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with non-profit originations, over 70 events have been held.
Now, we can witness very big changes on the international arena. Russia is a part of the global world, which is changing right in front of our eyes. New centers of growth and influence are emerging, above all, Asia-Pacific Region (APR). We can observe such an unusual phenomenon as transformation of Europe into a region, which projects inside not traditional well-being, but instability. There are also many other characteristics of the current uneasy situation in the world.
Processes are developing on the background of escalation of mistrust in international relations, accumulation of crisis elements, increase in cross-border threats and, most of all, an unprecedented upsurge of international terrorism.
Under these conditions – as a counter to unilateral actions, efforts to solve problems by ultimatums - Russia speaks for continuation and management of joint collective work.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, when speaking at the Victory Parade on May 9, stressed that once again we were open for uniting our efforts with all the other countries and were ready to work on establishing a modern non-aligned system of international relations.
