On October 13, the VIII Russian-German Young Leaders Conference, organized by non-profit partnership “Germany-Russia: A New Generation” jointly with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, opened in Dresden. The Gorchakov Fund is a financial partner of the event.
Partner of the Gorchakov Fund, member of the SPD, Minister President of Brandenburg from 2002 to 2013 and Head of the Russian-German Forum Matthias Platzeck welcomed participants of the forum.
In his welcome address, Platzeck mentioned that at present the West and the East were divided by the issue of the Crimea. That is why relations between the countries remained on an extremely low level.
"We would like to cooperate. However, we see that during high-level talks extension of sanction was discussed, but not their removal", he said.
