The XXII Potsdam Meetings are opening in Berlin
On May 14, the XXII Potsdam Meetings are opening in Berlin. This year, they were organized under patronage of Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov. Traditionally, organizers of the conference are the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the German-Russian Forum.
The topic of the forum is “Global Risks – Russia, Germany and the European Union in the Changed World”. During the opening ceremony, Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Leonid Drachevsky and member of the President’s Council of the German-Russian Foreign Trade Chamber Rainer Lindner will address the participants. Welcome messages from Sergey Lavrov and Heiko Maas will be read.
Prominent politicians and public figures from Germany and Russia, diplomats, journalists and businessmen will attend the conference. The delegations will include such famous people as Chairman of the German-Russian Forum Matthias Platzeck, member of Bundestag Dirk Wiese, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Politics magazine Fyodor Lukyanov and many others. Experts from previous Youth Forums of the Potsdam Meetings have also been invited.
Key topics of the dialogue will include multilateralism, economic cooperation and its phenomena, such as digitization and globalization. The participants will discuss a place of Russia and Germany in the fast-changing European Union during the expert roundtable.
