Training Courses for NGOs of the Gorchakov Fund. How it was

On November 10-11, Training Courses for NGOs of the Gorchakov Fund for leaders of non-governmental organizations in the field of foreign policy were held in Moscow for the first time. The goal of the seminar was to introduce representatives of Russian and foreign NGOs to principles, methods and opportunities associated with implementation of international projects.

 

The attendees of the courses included 18 representatives of public organizations from Baku, Volgograd, Donetsk, Yekaterinburg, Yerevan, Minsk, Kazan, Moscow, Riedstadt (Germany), Tbilisi, Kharkov, Tskhinvali and Shymkent (Kazakhstan).

 

The participants of the program were welcomed by Head of the Department for Liaisons with the Subjects of the Federation, the Parliament and Public Associations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Oleg Vasnetsov. He told about priorities of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation in the field of cooperation with non-governmental organizations. After that, Professor of MGIMO (U) under the MFA of Russia and member of the Gorchakov Fund’s Cub of Friends Yelena Ponomareva presented a vision of the role of NGOs in the foreign policy of the country.

 

The agenda of the first day of the courses ended with presentations about activities of the represented NGOs and joint work of the participants and a team of the Gorchakov Fund on the projects targeting development of international cooperation on the level of public organizations.

 

The second day of the courses was dedicated to various training sessions. Founder of Crowdlife Anna Osharova and Program Manager of the Russian International Affairs Council Lyudmila Filippova shared their experience in securing financial and nonfinancial resources for implementation of the projects in the field of public diplomacy.

 

Then, a meeting with major Russian operators, providing financial support to international projects, took place. Olga Yevko (Rossotrudnichestvo), Sergey Shurygin (Russkiy Mir Foundation), Tatyana Silvestrova (Russian Union of Youth), and Mikhail Chizhov (The Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS) spoke to the participants.

 

The agenda of the day was continued by a training session on media support of the projects and was delivered by Editor-in-Chief of the website of the Russian International Affairs Council Daria Khaspekova and Deputy Head of the Eurasian Communication Center and Head of the project NonForum of Bloggers Yevgeniya Bashkirova.

 

Financial Director of the Gorchakov Fund Larisa Kovaleva introduced the participants to details of preparing financial reports based on the results of the grants.


In the end of the training program of the courses, Head of the School of Volunteer Management Pavel Savchuk shared his experience in managing and stimulating participation of volunteers in the international projects implemented by NGOs. All the participants received certificates of completion of the Training Course for NGOs held by the Gorchakov Fund.
