Mikhail D. Prokhorov

Russian entrepreneur, owner of the private investment fund ONEXIM Group.

In 1989 graduated with honors fr om the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the Moscow State Finance Institute (Financial Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation). Until 1992 – Department Chief at the Management Board of International Bank of Economic Cooperation. Co-founder of the joint-stock commercial bank International Finance Corporation (MFK) and ONEXIM Bank where he served as Chairman of the Management Board and then President. 200-2001 – President of Rosbank. 2001-2007 – CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of the mining and metallurgical company Norilsk Nickel. 2006 – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polyus Gold. Funded a mining and metallurgical company Intergeo. Currently, the assets under management of ONEXIM amount to over $25 billion. Implements a project of manufacturing diesel-electric hybrid cars.

President of the Russian Biathlon Union. 2004 – founder of the Cultural Initiatives Foundation (the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation). Recipient of Order of Friendship for contribution to development of economic potential of Russia (2006). Member of the Supervisory Council of the State Corporation Rosnanotech, member of the Administrative Office of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). Member of the Board of Directors of OAO Sheremetyevo Airport.

3rd in voting when running for the 2012 presidential election gaining 7.98% of the total vote. Owner of the blocking  shareholding  in several leading mineral, insurance and medical companies including Rusal, Polyus Gold, insurance company Soglasie, RBK-TV. 2012 – rated by Forbes magazine as the 58th richest person in the world with a net worth of $13.2 billion.
